PRAISE FOR CALLOUSTOWN

"George Singleton works territory that is not terribly fashionable these days but is durably appealing: wacko-Southern."

The New York Times

The people of Calloustown—George Singleton’s brilliant new collection—are as hard-bitten and worn down as the title suggests, but in the hands of Singleton, without a doubt one of the very finest storytellers out there, there are veins of redemption and compassion at every turn, not to mention the trademark exhilarating humor and wit that grace all the Singleton writes. He is one of the funniest writers out there and also one of the wisest.”

—Jill McCorkle, author of July 7 and Life after Life

“If you read only one book this year, make it Calloustown. George Singleton is the best kind of genius, a mad one, and while his stories are acts of mad genius, they are also acts of great skill, acts of great compassion, acts of great intelligence. These are stories not to be missed”

—Tom Franklin, author of Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter and Hell at the Breech
