Featured Mentor: Russell Rowland
We are excited to announce our featured mentor of the week: Russell Rowland! Russell is the author of five novels, the last of which, Cold Country, was published by Dzanc in 2019, and received a very nice review in the Wall Street Journal. He has an MA in Creative Writing from Boston University, and besides teaching and working with other writers, he hosts a radio show called Fifty-Six Counties, based on one of his books, on his local NPR station. Russell lives in Billings, Montana.
Russell warns that while it may sound a bit cliche, he says that through the mentorship program, “I am happy to have the opportunity to provide the kind of help and guidance that I got from other writers when I was early in my career. There's no better feeling than seeing someone improve their writing and sometimes even go on to get their own work published.”
The last book Russell read “that really knocked [his] socks off was The Sentence, by one of [his] favorite writers, Louise Erdrich.”
